The Abductory Twist

The abductory twist or medial heel whip is a twist of the foot that occurs just as the heel is coming off the ground. This video shows it really well:

The most common cause of the abductory twist is when the foot is pronating one way and the leg is rotation the other way. This incongruity can not be corrected for while friction stops the foot moving. When that friction comes off the foot during heel off, the foot suddenly abducts.
